Adrian Noel Torrens, 53, has been charged with the murder of 19-year-old Audrey Griffin. Griffin, a talented Ironwoman and athlete, was found dead in Erina Creek on March 24, 2025, after a night out. Initially, her death seemed normal, but further investigation revealed that Torrens allegedly had a physical fight with Griffin after 3 AM on March 23.
Police arrested Torrens on April 21 in Surry Hills, and he has been denied bail. He faces the murder charge and 11 unrelated domestic violence charges, including breaching an apprehended violence order and using a phone to harass someone. These charges will be addressed in court in May.
The community has come together to support Griffin’s family by creating a fundraising page. Griffin was known for her vibrant personality and her involvement in local sports, including the Terrigal Wamberal Sharks rugby league team and the Gosford water polo club. Many remember her as a kind and joyful presence, and her death has caused widespread sadness.
As the investigation continues, Torrens’s case will go back to Gosford Local Court on June 20. This incident highlights the ongoing problem of violence against women. Griffin is one of 23 women killed by violence in Australia so far in 2025, according to the Australian Femicide Watch. The community is heartbroken over the loss of such a young and promising life.
