Good Friday Appeal 2025: Victorians Give Generously to Support Sick Kids

Victorians have once again shown remarkable generosity for the 94th annual Good Friday Appeal, coming together to raise vital funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) and regional health services across the state. The beloved Easter tradition, held on April 18, 2025, saw families, businesses, and volunteers unite to make a difference for children needing lifesaving care.

This year’s Appeal was launched with a $1 million donation from the Allan Labour Government, kicking off a campaign that highlights the deep community connection to the RCH. Over its storied history, the Good Friday Appeal has now raised more than $468 million, providing cutting-edge equipment, funding groundbreaking research, and supporting family-centred care programs that benefit children from Victoria, Tasmania, southern New South Wales, and beyond.

The 2025 campaign featured the inspiring stories of Jack, age six, and Mimi, age four, both of whom have received critical treatment at the RCH. Their journeys served as a powerful reminder of the impact every donation has on young lives and their families. Premier Jacinta Allan and Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas joined families and hospital staff at the annual Kids Day Out event, celebrating the community’s ongoing commitment to helping sick children.

For the second year running, the Appeal’s reach extended even further, with $3 million allocated to six major regional hospitals and additional support for smaller rural facilities. This ensures that children across Victoria, no matter where they live, can access world-class care closer to home.

Community groups, including thousands of CFA volunteers, played a central role once again, shaking tins and organising local events in nearly every town. Their continued dedication has helped the CFA raise nearly $40 million for the Appeal since 1951, making them a cornerstone of this annual effort.

The Good Friday Appeal’s success is also powered by its iconic telethon, broadcast live on Channel Seven and 7plus, featuring stars from across Australian television and entertainment. The event not only raises funds but also celebrates the spirit of giving that defines Victoria.

Every dollar donated goes directly to supporting sick children, funding state-of-the-art technology, research, and staff training at the RCH and regional hospitals. As the Appeal continues to grow, so does its legacy of hope and healing for families across the state.

Victorians have once again proven that when it comes to supporting their children’s hospital, their generosity knows no bounds.
