Mark Levin: Fox News Host Appointed by Trump to Lead Homeland Security Advisory Council

Mark Levin, a Fox News host, lawyer, and conservative commentator, has been appointed by President Donald Trump to serve on the newly revamped Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC).

Announced on April 18, 2025, Levin will join a select group of political figures and experts tasked with advising the Department of Homeland Security on border security, immigration, and national safety strategies.

The council is chaired by Kristi Noem, the current U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, and includes South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, former NYPD detective Bo Dietl, and Florida state Senator Joseph Gruters.

Levin is best known as the host of Fox News’ “Life, Liberty & Levin,” a weekly program that delves into American values, politics, and current events. He has been a fixture at Fox News since 2017 and is also the longtime host of the nationally syndicated radio show “The Mark Levin Show.”

In addition to his media career, Levin served in the Reagan administration as chief of staff to Attorney General Edwin Meese and is a former president of the Landmark Legal Foundation.

Born in Philadelphia in 1957, Levin holds degrees from Temple University and is recognized for his outspoken conservative views, frequent criticism of Democrats, and strong support for constitutional principles. He has authored several best-selling books and is a member of the National Radio Hall of Fame.

Trump’s decision to appoint Levin comes as part of a broader effort to bring together what he describes as “top experts in their field” to shape new policies on border security, drug interdiction, and the deportation of criminal offenders.

The president emphasised that the council’s work will focus on stopping the flow of fentanyl and other illegal drugs, securing the U.S. border, and “making America safe again.”

Levin expressed his gratitude for the appointment on social media, calling it “an honour.” His addition to the HSAC underscores the influence of conservative media voices in shaping national security policy under the Trump administration.
