The highly anticipated movie Shin-chan: Our Dinosaur Diary is now set to release in Indian theatres on May 9, 2025. This marks a historic moment as it is the first-ever Shin-chan film to receive a theatrical release in India.
The movie will be available in Japanese with English subtitles, as well as dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, ensuring accessibility for a wide audience.
Directed by Shinobu Sasaki, the film takes viewers on an adventurous journey to “Dino’s Island,” a futuristic theme park in Tokyo where dinosaurs have been brought back to life. The story follows Shinnosuke Nohara (Shin-chan), his family, and their dog Shiro as they befriend a baby dinosaur named Nana.
Chaos ensues when a sinister organization targets Nana for its hidden secret, leading Shinnosuke and the Kasukabe Guard on a thrilling mission to protect their new friend while dinosaurs wreak havoc across Tokyo and Kasukabe.
The movie originally premiered in Japan on August 9, 2024, and became a massive success, earning 2.69 billion yen at the Japanese box office—the highest for any Shin-chan movie to date. Its Indian release was initially scheduled for May 1, 2025, but was postponed to May 9, 2025, for unspecified reasons.
This release is being celebrated as a major milestone for the Shin-chan franchise in India. It is expected to appeal to both longtime fans who grew up watching the series and new audiences discovering Shin-chan’s humour and adventures for the first time.
